Virginia Zuehlsdorf - Class Of 1936

Virginia Zuehlsdorf, 98, of Kenosha, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Brookside Care Center.

Born in Kenosha on October 20, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Ambrose) Zabukovec. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she attended local schools and was a graduate of Kenosha High School.

In 1937 she was united in marriage to Phillip Hartnell. That marriage was later dissolved before she married Herman Zuehlsdorf on July 5, 1957, he preceded her in death in 1985.

Virginia was employed with Kenosha Unified School District as an instructional aide while also working for Memory Lane Antiques.

Virginia was a former member of the Kenosha Education Association and the Kenosha County Girl Scout Council. She was a current member of S.N.B.S. Lodge #584 and enjoyed spending her spare time reading, making cross stitch and completing crossword puzzles.

She will be deeply missed by her five children, Ronald (Karla), Robert (Barbara) and John (Eileen) Hartnell, Mary (James) Larrabee and Gretchen (Jeffery) Ley; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, Virginia was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Jr., Pvt. Robert, and Walter Zabukovec, who passed in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 21, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
