Josephine Horvat (Bjurman) - Class Of 1935

Josephine Bjurman, 98, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015, at the Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie.

A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was born on July 26, 1917, to the late Joseph and Josephine (Horvat) Horvat.  Attending local schools and graduating from Kenosha High School, Josephine developed her secretarial skills at the College of Commerce.  She held a head secretary position with Kenosha Unified, serving Bradford High School for 17 years (pictured at right from the '74 Spy), retiring in 1981. 

A member of St. James Catholic Church, Josephine was active with the Catholic Woman's Club. 

Josephine is survived by her four children, John (Nancy) Bjurman of Princeton, Minn., JoAnn (George) Omohundro of Fredricksburg, Va., James (Janine) Bjurman of Bonn Germany and Corrales, NM and Gerald (Ann) Bjurman of Chicago, Ill. She is further survived by her seven grandchildren; her eleven great grandchildren along with her sisters-in-law, Betty and Ruth Horvat and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, Eric, Josephine was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and George Horvat and a sister, Elsie Ribar.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. James Catholic Church, 5821 10th Ave. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery.  A visitation for Josephine will be held on Tuesday, August 25, from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home.
