Richard Ott - Class Of 1931

Richard R. Ott, Jr., 94, of Kenosha, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Woodstock Health & Rehab.

He was born on January 15, 1914 to the late Richard and Minnie (Nimmo) Ott, Sr. in South Bend, IN. He moved to Kenosha in 1916.  He was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School in June of 1931.

He entered the U.S. Army/Air Corp on September 24, 1941. He was a T/5 and served in the Pacific Theater for 19 months and was honorably discharged from the 8th Fighter Control Squadron of the 5th Air Force on December 4, 1945.

On June 27, 1952 he married Mrs. Viola Ruth Streblow at Grace Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1995.

Richard worked at Nash Motors, and its successor companies Nash Kelvinator Corp. and American Motors for 44 years, retiring on March 31, 1981.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the UAW Local #72.  Richard was an avid Cub fan. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and corresponding and visiting with his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his sons Robert J. (Brenda) Streblow of Overland Park, KS and James A. Ott of Fairfax, VA; his three grandchildren Greg, Steve and Lorrie; and his two great grandchildren.

One brother Tage V. Ott preceded him in death.

Funeral Services for Richard were held on December 22, 2008 at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, followed by interment with Military Honors at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
