Jim Parmelee - Class Of 1960

James William Parmelee, 68, of Spring Hill, KS, passed away October 21, 2010 at his home.

Jim was born June 11, 1942 in Ft. Jackson, SC, to James Thomas and June May (Hartung) Parmelee. He grew up in Wisconsin, was a graduate of the University of Maryland. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1966 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 2002.

Jim married Beverly Labrie on March 24, 1979 in Shawnee, KS. They lived in Olathe and moved to Spring Hill 20 years ago. Jim was the chief financial officer for Taylor Forge Engineered Systems in Paola, retiring after 33 years. He was a member of the Am Vets, the American Legion of Paola, and the Elks. Jim served on boards of People to People of Greater Kansas City, the Paola Chamber of Commerce, KCCI of Topeka, and the KS Manufacturing Association. He also served the KS Export Finance Committee.

Jim is survived by his wife Bev of Spring Hill; sisters JoAnn Parmelee of Jerez de la Frontera, Spain and Jill Peterson of Owasso, OK; a niece and a nephew.  He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

Funeral Services were held on October 26, 2010, at the Bruce Funeral Home, Spring Hill, KS, with cremation following.  Inurnment with military honors took place on November 1, 2010 at Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery.
