Michael Salituro - Class Of 1953

Michael Joseph Salituro, 78, formerly of Kenosha, died peacefully at his home on July 26, 2014. Michael was born August 12, 1935.  He was the son of the late Settimio and Concetta (DeMarco) Salituro.  He attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford and received his BA in English from the University of Wisconsin Parkside.

He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963.

On June 8, 1963, he married Emilia Ruffolo at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church
. They were blessed with three daughters, Connie, Michelle, and Jennifer and 51 years of marriage.

Michael was a printer for 25 years at Smith Printing Company and went on to manage Gioacchino’s Pizzeria and Restaurant.  He later retired as a manager of Sam’s Club.

An extrovert, Michael was happiest among family and friends.  He was an avid lover of Italian culture and history.  Michael recently fulfilled a long desired dream to return to Italy with his entire family, niece, and cousin.  An experience that he cherished and made his life complete.

Michael is survived by his wife, Emilia and children, Connie (Pete) Coglianese, Michelle Schafer, Jennifer Salituro and his three grandchildren, Arianna, Anthony, and Alexa, whom he adored. Also survived by Dorene (late brother, Chester Salituro), brother Sam (Nancy) Salituro and his many close cousins, nieces, nephews, and very good friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 3:00PM to 9:00PM at Salerno’s Funeral Home (450 Lake Street, Roselle, IL).  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10:30AM at St. Philip the Apostle Church (1233 W. Holtz, Addison, IL).  Entombment with Full Military Honors will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2014,at 11:00AM at All Saints Mausoleum (3300 Springbrook Road, Pleasant Prairie, WI).
