June Rupp (Blackford) - Class Of 1941

June Elizabeth Blackford, age 90, of Eureka, formerly of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Maple Lawn Homes in Eureka.

June was born on July 22, 1923 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Nicholas and Isabel (Perrin) Rupp.  She married Donald Lavern Blackford on April 20, 1943 in Kenosha.  He preceded her in death in 2007.

June graduated from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in 1942 with an Associate's Degree in Piano Accompaniment and Voice.  Music was such a tremendous part of June's life and she loved to share her gift with others.  June also served in the U.S. Navy from November of 1944 to November of 1945.  Following the Navy was a homemaker until she returned to school, receiving her Associate's Degree in Secretarial Sciences in 1961 from Kenosha Technical Institute.   June worked as an Administrative Assistant for Kenosha Technical Institute for 15 years and then for Harvey Johnson retiring in 1993.  She was a member of Rock Creek Bible Church in Congerville and the American Legion.

June is survived by her children, Vern Allen (Sally) Blackford of Congerville, IL and Ardith June (Ed) Carter of Jonesboro, AR; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; and her sister, Fern E. Rupp.

Services were held on January 31, 2014 at 11am at Rock Creek Bible Church in Congerville with Rev. Phil Bachman officiating, followed by interment in Imhoff Cemetery in Congerville.
