James Santapoalo - Class Of 1939

James V. Santopoalo, 80 (pictured at right from the 1939 Spy), of Waukegan, IL, passed away March 1, 2001, in Waukegan, IL.  

James was born on February 9, 1921 in Kenosha, WI. He was a resident of Waukegan for the past 42 years. He graduated from Bradford High School in Kenosha, WI in 1939. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. James retired as a beautician from Marshall Fields in Skokie, IL after 38 years.

He is survived by one sister Michelina (Frank) Pontillo and one brother Steve (Emma) Santopoalo of Kenosha, WI; three daughters, Tina Santopoalo of Waukegan, Karen (Bill) Walker of Waukegan, Rochelle Santopoalo of Evanston, IL; two sons, David (Debbie) Santopoalo of West Bend, WI and Dean Santopoalo of Chicago, IL; two grandsons Tony Thiel and Shaun Laurent; and one great-grandson Carter Thiel all of Waukegan.  He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in November 1988; his parents Peter and Theresa; two brothers, Louis and Ray; and his sister, Theresa Fara.

The family would like to express their gratitude to North Shore Nursing Facility and Provena Medical Center.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 4, 2001 at Marsh Funeral Home of Waukegan (1521 Washington St., Waukegan) from 1:00PM to 3:00PM.   Services will be at 3:00PM p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
