Steve Mostenan - Class Of 1939

Steve John Mostenan, 96 (pictured at right from the 1939 Spy), passed away on November 23, 2016 and has gone to be with the Lord.  

He was born in Kenosha, WI to Steve and Elizabeth (Trebichowsky) Mostenan on November 14, 1920.  Steve graduated from Kenosha High School in 1939.  Following graduation, he went to work for Macwhyte Wire Rope Company, where he was employed for over 44 years and retired as a Special Assignment Man in 1984.  Steve served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from November of 1942 through December 19, 1945 as a Tech Sergeant.  Twenty Seven months of that time was spent in the South Pacific.

On December 24, 1945, Steve became engaged to Mildred "Dolly" Buran, and they married February 14, 1946.  In 1986, they moved to Phoenix. AZ and became active members of All Saints Lutheran church. Steve was also a member of Sokol USA (Lodge 122) in Kenosha, WI and Sokol ASO in Racine, WI (serving as a gymnastic instructor and Secretary.)

Steve is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mildred; daughters Diane Rutkowski and Sharon Kosharek; and son, Steve Joseph Mostenan.  Also surviving him are his son-in-law John Rutkowski, two grandchildren, Dawn Koberstein and husband Joseph Koberstein, Ryan Rutkowski and wife Marissa Rutkowski, along with four great grandchildren: Austin, Ryan and twins John and Jenna.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Edward and John and sisters-in-law, Louse and Eleanor Mostenan.

Services were held at All Saints Lutheran Church in Phoenix on November  30, 2016, followed by interment at Phoenix Memorial Park.
