IN MEMORY

Frank Hlapcik - Class Of 1937

Musician, conductor, composer, arranger and entertainer, Frank L. "Frank Young" Hlapcik, age 90, passed away in his granddaughter's loving arms at his daughter's home in Glendale, AZ, on October 27, 2009.  Born to Frank and Helen Hlapcik on June 21, 1919, Frank moved to Kenosha, WI at age three, where he was raised.

Frank, a musician during his entire adult life, went on to record and perform under his professional name of 'Frank Young' with famous entertainers including Bing Crosby, Liberace, Mitzi Gaynor and many others throughout the United States, finally performing with Frankie Fanelli.  Following his retirement from the world of entertainment, he began a second career publishing a low-cost advertising newspaper in the Northwest, "Little Nickel Want Ads," and was an avid golfer, fisherman, traveler and artist.  In his last days he wished to say goodbye to all his wonderful friends.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Barbara, and son-in-law, Corky Sbriglia; sister, Helen Schweitzer of Kenosha; and granddaughter, Dee Sbriglia.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mickey, and son, Martin, and by his sisters, Victoria, Anna and Frances, and brother, Edward.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary (7924 North 59th Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85301).  The family suggested that contributions be made in his name to your local hospice.
